Auton House

Auton House is a residential children's home that provides the ideal place for young people who have suffered significant trauma and struggle to live in a family environment to enjoy a period of stability whilst also developing, improving and maximising their life chances.

Auton is situated on the St Vincent's site in the outer west of Newcastle. It is a large house set in pleasant grounds and has ready access to local amenities - shops, MetroCentre, bus routes, swimming baths, etc.

There is accommodation for five children of both genders with an additional bed for short breaks.

Children have their own lockable bedrooms, which can be personalised to reflect their own identity and encourage a sense of belonging. There is a playroom with soft furnishings, games, craft facilities and books which is ideal for individual key worker sessions or just for fun. The small homework room based on the ground floor of the building contains a computer and educational books. All of the children are supported in their school placements and are encouraged to partake in extra curricular activities.

It is recognised that whenever possible children and young people need regular constructive contact with family, friends and significant others. The family centre on St Vincent's campus provides the ideal setting for this important resource.

Our dedicated staff team act as role models to the children and young people, providing a strong ethos of unconditional positive regard and promote the rights of the children and young people in our care. Our staff understand the emotional and behavioural difficulties the young people in our care suffer from. We work with a team of professionals to implement and maintain therapeutic plans in order to help the young people overcome these difficulties.
