Day Centres

St Cuthberts Care is committed to supporting and enabling older members of the community to be part of and access community life. Our day centres in Consett and Gateshead provide much needed support and care to older people who either suffer from social isolation or from dementia.

St Joseph's Day Centre

St Joseph's day centre in Gateshead is a specialist unit providing day time care and support to older people with dementia, enabling them to continue to live in their own homes and ensuring carers are given a break. St Joseph's is a small, friendly day centre and is able to accommodate up to 15 people at one time.

St Cuthberts Care, Enabling People

At St Joseph's we offer a wide range of experiences and activities including arts and crafts, cookery and outings and we have recently developed a sensory room which has numerous therapeutic benefits for those with dementia.

Whilst we focus on providing a safe, comfortable and stimulating environment for our users, we also warmly welcome carers who may wish to pop in for a coffee and a chat, or perhaps join us for one of our regular support meetings.

The centre is open seven days a week and offers people the choice of which day or days they attend.

Referral follows assessment by a mental health social worker. Further information on gaining a referral to St Joseph's Day Centre can be obtained from either St Joseph's or from Gateshead Social Services.

For an informal discussion or information pack please contact the Manager of St Joseph's on 0191 477 1816.
