July 2012
Within the first 50 days of fundraising we are delighted to announce that so far The Alan Shearer Foundation has raised £57,000.
We have been overwhelmed with the support received so far, and hope that in the coming months that enthusiasm and generosity continues to help us towards our goal of raising £250,000 in our first year.
Community groups, schools and individuals have been extremely supportive and we would like to thank just a few:
- Central Newcastle High School (Juniors) for raising £290 with their black and white day
- Inner Wheel, Whitley Bay for their encouraging words and £100 donation
- Coxhoe Residents Group for their £50 donation
- Mrs Susan Wilkinson donating £100 in lieu of retirement gifts
All the money raised will be used to benefit disabled people across the North East region by offering a number of free and subsidised short breaks at the Alan Shearer Short Break Centre, continuing to support and develop the free facilities of the Alan Shearer Activity Centre and enabling St Cuthberts Care to expand its disability provision across the region.
Please do not forget that you can support us in a number of ways. Visit the Foundation's website at www.alanshearerfoundation.org.uk where you can find out how to donate online or by text, phone or mail. You can also download an official Alan Shearer Foundation sponsorship form, should you wish to enter a sponsored event for us.
