Parkhead is a day resource centre in Ashington for adults with learning disabilities.
We offer stimulating, educational activities that suit the needs and interests of the people attending. Socialisation and community inclusion is central to the delivery of the service, improving and developing the self-esteem and confidence of those attending.
We realise that each service user will have different abilities and therefore some will be more able than others to tackle the daily routine at the Centre. For this reason, we encourage individuals to be as independent as possible - at a level that suits them.
We run a wide range of activities for service users including:
A range of sessions are also on offer according to the needs and interests of service users. For example, baking, monetary skills, crafts, sensory experience, keep fit, local history, gardening, decorating and textiles, IT opportunities, health and beauty and DIY. Sessions change periodically according to service users' requests.
Parkhead is fully wheelchair accessible and offers a wide range of facilities including:
"You should come here if you can it's changed my life." Steven, service user
